Happy New Year! If you are anything like me, perhaps you are contemplating some dreams or aspirations for the coming days, weeks, and months. It could be spending more time with your family, organizing your home, or perhaps living a healthier lifestyle. Perhaps you are trying to juggle the demands of life and spend your time and energy in the best ways you can.
What Matters Most
Several days ago I was speaking with a friend. As I did, I was reminded that there is one thing want to desire in the coming days more than anything else. It is the one thing that causes everything else in my life to be in its right place. It is what gives me peace and puts everything else in perspective. It is what we were created for above all else… to be in relationship with God, our Heavenly Father!
Seeking God First
This year, as responsibilities arise, dreams press in, and life unfolds, there is one thing I want to prioritize first and foremost. I want to desire God more than anything! Rather than looking for significance in my work, my family, or the affirmations of others, I want to find my significance in Christ. Rather than trying to whip up my own business ideas, homeschooling ideas, or even home management ideas, I want to seek Jesus. As I am still before God, that is where I am best positioned to hear His voice and obey. It is where I am best positioned to love and care for my family. It is where I am best positioned to glorify God and accomplish His purposes!
Matthew 6:33
Matthew 6:33 says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” As we enter into the coming days, I encourage you to step into a season of deep purpose, where we seek God, desire Jesus first, and in so doing, experience fulfillment far beyond what anyone or anything else can offer.
May we run hard after God today and always!
