Cinnamon Lover’s French Toast

Cinnamon Lovers

If you love cinnamon and you love French toast, then this “Cinnamon Lover’s French Toast” recipe that we whipped up may be for you! Personally, I love French toast and I also really like cinnamon. In this simple recipe we’ve combined the two resulting in a bolder cinnamon flavor than you may find in your traditional French toast recipes. If you’re not crazy about cinnamon but want just a hint of cinnamon flavor, you can substitute the amount of cinnamon in this recipe with just a dash of it. Or, if you’d prefer you can remove the cinnamon altogether for delicious French toast all the same.

Cinnamon Lover’s French Toast Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 Cup of Milk
  • 3 Eggs
  • 8-10 Slices of Bread (In this case I used Organic Sprouted Whole Grain Thin Sliced Bread)
  • 2 Tbsps Cane Sugar (In this case I used Organic Cane Sugar)
  • 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
  • 3 Tsps Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Cup Real Maple Syrup

How to Make Cinnamon Lover’s French Toast

Use a large mixing bowl to whisk eggs together. Add milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Continue to whisk for several minutes until consistency is smooth and all ingredients have been blended together thoroughly. Place a cast iron skillet or a stainless steal skillet on medium to medium low heat. Place 1/2 a tablespoon of butter in the pan and allow it to melt over the surface of the pan. Using tongs, quickly and lightly dip both sides of the bread in the previously prepared cinnamon French toast mixture and immediately set it in the pan. (It is important to ensure that both sides of the bread as well as the bread crusts have been lightly dipped in the mix. Use caution not to leave the bread sitting in the mix or let it dip for too long before placing it in the pan, as this could cause it to become soggy and break apart.)

Allow each side of the French toast to simmer in the pan until it is cooked. It should be a light golden brown color. Note, the cinnamon may cause some parts of the French toast to look darker brown. Once both sides of the French toast are cooked and a light golden brown, set the French toast on a plate to cool. Begin the process again with the next piece of bread and add additional butter to the pan if needed.

Toppings

When you have finished making the Cinnamon Lover’s French Toast you are ready to add toppings! You can add warm maple syrup, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream. You can also use a combination of strawberries, blueberries, bananas, or baked cinnamon apples as fruit toppings. If you love chocolate you can top your cinnamon French toast with chocolate chip morsels.
